WASHINGTON (AP) A Republican congressperson told Americans on Friday they ought to pray to God for President Barack Obama and recommended a scriptural entry that says, "Let his days be few."
Georgia Sen. David Perdue told a social event of religious people that "we should be particular about how we pray." He proposed Psalms 109:8, which peruses: "Let his days be few, and let another person also have his office."
As the audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's "Street to Majority" applauded and clapped , "all joking aside, I trust that America is at a minute of emergency." Said David.
The following lines of the Psalm read: "Let his children be fatherless and his wife a widow."
Kristen Orthman, a representative for Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid, said Perdue's remarks "left the impression he was appealing to God for the death of President Obama."
